The Life That Changed the World
Week 15 | John 20:10-31 | Pastor Winston Parrish
The resurrection of Jesus Christ stands as the defining moment of redemptive history, confirming that His life, death, and mission accomplished exactly what He declared. If Christ remained in the grave, His claims would be void and humanity would remain without hope, still under the power of sin and death. However, the empty tomb declares that every word He spoke is true, that the cross was accepted by the Father, and that forgiveness, life, and hope are now realities secured in Him. The resurrection is not merely an event to be remembered, but the foundation upon which all faith rests.
John’s account brings the focus to a personal response, moving from doubt to declaration as Thomas confesses, “My Lord and my God.” The resurrection reveals that Jesus is not simply a teacher or prophet, but the risen Son of God who demands belief and surrender. It establishes that salvation is fully accomplished and freely offered, yet it also confronts every individual with a decision that cannot be avoided. The risen Christ stands as both Savior and Lord, and the response to Him determines whether one receives life or remains under judgment.
1. His Person Is Confirmed
The resurrection publicly vindicates Jesus as the Son of God, proving that He is exactly who He claimed to be.
2. His Purchase Is Complete
The empty tomb declares that the work of the cross is finished and accepted, securing forgiveness, reconciliation, and eternal life for all who believe.
3. His Claim Is Confronting
The resurrection demands a personal response, confronting every individual with the necessity of belief and submission.
