The Battle Within #7:
The Woman With the Issue Of Blood
A Biblical Answer to Anxiety, Panic, and Depression
Luke 8:40-48 | Pastor Winston Parrish
For twelve years, a woman suffered physically, emotionally, socially, and spiritually from an incurable issue of blood. After exhausting every human remedy, she pressed through the crowd and touched Jesus in faith, discovering that His holiness was greater than her uncleanness and His power was sufficient to make her whole.
Jesus did more than heal her body; He stopped, called her “Daughter,” and publicly restored her dignity and belonging. Whether our suffering is sudden like Jairus’ crisis or prolonged like this woman’s condition, Christ is never too distant, distracted, or depleted to meet us personally and give us peace.
1. The Accessibility of Christ
Jesus made Himself available to both the respected Jairus and the rejected woman. No matter our position, pain, or past, we can come to Him because He is accessible to every hurting person.
2. The Personability of Christ
Jesus recognized the woman’s touch of faith amid the pressure of the crowd and responded to her personally. We are never merely another face or another need to Him; He knows us and is personally involved in every work of grace in our lives.
3. The Inexhaustibility of Christ
Jesus gave the woman His complete attention without neglecting Jairus or exhausting His power. His compassion, patience, and ability are never depleted—He is always enough for every burden and every broken heart.
Jesus is enough for the crisis that came suddenly and the suffering that has continued for years. His presence is accessible, His care is personal, and His power and compassion are inexhaustible.
