60 Years… Not A Monument!

Psalm 78:2-7 | Pastor Emeritus Ralph Sexton

Sixty years is a wonderful milestone, but it is not a monument marking the end of the journey. It is an opportunity to pause and remember the faithfulness of God through every prayer answered, every soul saved, every need supplied, and every season of difficulty. Everything the church enjoys today was made possible through God’s grace and the prayers, sacrifices, and faithful service of those who came before.

The work is not finished. The church must remain steadfast and continue carrying the gospel into the future, preserving the truths of God’s Word and passing them faithfully to the next generation. Sixty years should not become an excuse to coast, but a launching pad from which the church moves forward, always abounding in the work of the Lord.

1. Remember What God Has Done

Look back with gratitude upon God’s faithfulness and the sacrifices of those who prayed, gave, served, and built with future generations in mind.

2. Remain Faithful To What God Has Given Us

Hold firmly to Scripture, the gospel, prayer, soul winning, biblical preaching, discipleship, missions, godly living, and willing service without being changed by the world.

3. Reach the Next Generation

The goal is not simply to finish our own part of the race, but to pass the baton successfully. Invest in others so they will have a faithful church where they can find the truth, hope, and help of Jesus Christ.
