More Than A Member!
1 Corinthians 12:27 | Ephesians 5:25–27 | Revelation 19:7–9 |
1 Peter 2:5 | Pastor Winston Parrish
In some minds, church membership has been reduced to a line on a roster, a Sunday routine, or an obligation passed down from family. But according to the Word of God, being a member of the Church is profound, sacred, and eternally significant. The Church is not a club. The Church is not a building. The Church is not just a gathering. The Church is a chosen people, who have been redeemed by blood, bound together by the Spirit, and called out by Christ to be His very own.
Paul said it best in Ephesians 5:25.
Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the Church, and gave himself for it.
So what does it truly mean to be a member of His Church? It means that…
1. We Are His Body – A Living Connection: 1 Corinthians 12:12-13
You belong to something alive, something holy, something eternal.
2. We Are His Bride – A Loving Covenant: Ephesians 5:25-27
You are loved with a relentless, covenant-keeping love.
3. We Are His Building – A Lasting Construction: 1 Peter 2:5
You are part of God’s eternal house, designed to reflect His glory.
Let the world chase clubs and crowds. Let others seek titles and trends.
But we are part of something holy, something heavenly, something glorious. We are the Church of the Living God.
God is a Master Builder, and nothing He places is random or on accident! God makes no mistakes; He makes no errors. He is perfect in His handiwork as Master Builder, the craftsman of eternity. You’re not just a believer; you’re a brick in the eternal superstructure, the living organism of the Living God, The Church!
