In part 1, we read John 17:1-3, where Jesus, given power over all flesh, came to grant eternal life to those whom the Father has given Him. He revealed that true eternal life is not just endless existence but knowing the only true God and Jesus Christ, whom He sent. Eternity is beyond our full understanding—it has no beginning or end—but Jesus made it clear that our relationship with Him defines our eternal future.
We previously declared that eternity is inevitable and that our time on earth determines where we will spend it. If that truth stands, then we must ask ourselves: How does this reality affect us? How does God expect us to respond? Today, we will examine the three statements we made about eternity and the three essential questions they raise for every believer.
1. Statement: Everyone Here Will Spend an Eternity Somewhere
Question: Who do you know that’s not ready for eternity?
Everyone will spend eternity somewhere, and it is our responsibility to share the gospel with those who are not ready. If we remain silent, hiding our faith for the sake of comfort, we fail in our calling to be salt and light in a world that desperately needs Christ.
2. Statement: Eternity Has Two Destinations: Heaven or Hell
Question: Do we know how marvelous Heaven is and how horrendous Hell is?
Heaven is a place of eternal joy, beauty, and fellowship with God, while Hell is a place of endless torment, darkness, and separation from Him. Who do we know that is not ready for eternity?
3. Statement: Christ Is the Dividing Line for Eternity
Question: Is Christ visible in you?
Christ is the dividing line—salvation is found in Him alone, and no one comes to the Father except through Him. If we truly belong to Christ, it should be visible in our words, actions, and priorities—so is He clearly seen in your life?
