Our Founding Fathers

We often refer to the group of brave individuals who birthed America as our Founding Fathers.

The foundation our nation was built upon was the faith and vision of men that wanted to be free.

Each year we have special days on our social and personal calendars that we want to remember.  One of those days is even called Memorial Day.  July 4th, D-Day, Christmas Day, Easter, birthdays, anniversaries, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day are all special days of remembrance.

These days are foundational to our social and cultural calendars.  Celebrating and remembering the purpose of these days defines who we are.

Today, as a people and as a church, we honor and celebrate Father’s Day.

Our Bible teaches us that God uses this human relationship with Jesus and God the Father.

God is our heavenly Father.  Jesus even taught us to pray, “Our Father, which art in Heaven.” We learn of our Father’s kingdom in Matthew 26 and our Father’s business in Luke chapter 2.

Luke 12:32 speaks of our Father’s “good pleasures” and another reference we all remember, “In my Father’s house are many mansions…”

Father God speaks to His children (the saved, the redeemed, the church) through the life and sacrifice of His Son, Jesus.  God the Father teaches and instructs us through His Holy Word, our Bible.

Notice God’s instruction in Psalm 78:3, “Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us.”

God said to us, the parents and the grandparents of today, focusing on our dads, to say, ”We will not deny the Lord God, our Heavenly Father, in the way we live and conduct our lives!”

Verse 4 states that we will not hide the truth of God and His Word from our families, “…shewing to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, and His strength, and His wonderful works that He hath done.”

Fathers, families, and friends, let’s rededicate our lives and energy to serving the Lord!

You are loved,

Pastor Ralph
