Gods Assurances to the Remnant
From Last Lord’s Day
Haggai 2 | Pastor Winston Parrish
In Haggai 2, God asks the Children of Israel three rhetorical questions: Who is left among you? (70 Years in captivity) How do you see it now? (The Temple) Is it not in your eyes in comparison? Haggai drew attention to the fact that this Temple was inferior and lacked the splendor and the former glory of Solomon’s Temple. It has sat in ruin for a generation; its gold and silver and its instruments and tools have all been destroyed or stolen.
But then God answers His rhetorical questions and gives the Rebuilding Remnant some great calming assurances while they labor.
- The Assurance of His Presence – Haggai 2:4
- The Assurance of His faithfulness – Haggai 2:5
- The Assurance of A Greater Glory! – Haggai 2:6-9
This was perfect timing—a perfect reminder! You may feel all alone. You may feel abandoned, forgotten, and afraid! But my spirit remaineth! Glory to God! The Holy Ghost has lost no power! The Holy Ghost hasn’t surrendered His position.
God said I made a covenant with you! It may look like I have forgotten you, but I haven’t; my spirit remains! Fear ye not! You do not have to be afraid; I will not fail thee!
We can say this with all assurance! There is coming a day when King Jesus shall establish His earthly kingdom, and His presence will be in the Temple! Solomon’s Temple was filled with the Shekinah glory, but the Temple those of us in the faith shall see will be greater! A more glorious! More powerful! More ornate! More beautiful Temple! It’s worth it, church; keep strong and keep working for the Lord!
