This Father’s Day, we looked at Joshua 24—a sacred moment when Joshua, nearing the end of his life, gathers the people of Israel to renew their covenant with God. With the conquest of Canaan complete and the land distributed, Joshua issues one final challenge: will the people remain faithful to the God who brought them out of Egypt and gave them this land? His words are more than a farewell; they are the heart-cry of a spiritual father taking ownership of his household’s direction and declaring unwavering devotion to the Lord. Joshua calls the people to remember God’s faithfulness, reject cultural idolatry, and choose, once and for all, whom they will serve.

Joshua’s declaration—“as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord”—is a model of godly fatherhood. It’s a call for men to rise with spiritual authority, clarity, and consistency in leading their families.
