On Christmas Day in Bethlehem over 2000 years ago, Jesus was born most likely in the bottom of an old Jebusite military outpost tower that had been converted into a birthing center for lambs that were to be taken to the temple for sacrifice.

The tower of Migdal Eder would of had lower level where a stone feeding trough served as a manger for the Son of God to live his first few moments. Ironically, it would be a stone shelf where they would lay his body, in a grave owned by Joseph of Arimathea, and it would be stone they would place in front of that grave to try and contain what had been initiated on Christmas Day in Bethlehem.

Luke 2:21-35

We see just a handful of righteous people involved in the early days of Christ’s life: Mary, Joseph, and Simon. Mary and Jospeh were wonderful, young, righteous, teenagers that God chose to tend to His only begotten Son! The Savior of the world.

These few people had some things in common….

Tonight, our heart will focus on the Thankfulness of our hearts, and as much as I love Turkey legs and deviled eggs—I want us to turn our attention towards the subject of giving thanks and praise to God for ALL of His blessings to us as a church and well as the individuals who make up this local body of believers.

Psalm 95:1-2

  1. O come, let us sing unto the Lord: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.
  2. Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.

You cant have the commission without communion and you cant have communion without The Body, without The Blood, and you can’t have The Body and The Blood without the Gospel. The good news that He came, He bled, He died, He resurrected Himself in power, He paid a price that I could never pay, and purchased me in an eternal transaction. Commission is on the line, eternity is in the balance. People need the Gospel! The good news! We must send the light into the darkness, but church, the road to go is hard, it’s difficult. He said pick up your cross and follow me.
