The Church and Charlie Kirk
A Selection of Scriptures | Pastor Winston Parrish
In the wake of Charlie Kirk’s assassination, Pastor Winston addressed the church with a message of grief, clarity, and hope. He reminded the congregation that Kirk was not targeted at random but deliberately silenced because he boldly spoke God’s truth in the public square. Like salt and light, Kirk’s witness stirred anger in a culture opposed to biblical convictions on family, marriage, gender, and holiness. Yet his life and testimony now echo louder than ever, reminding believers that every life lived for Christ carries eternal influence.
As the church, we are urged to see this tragedy through the lens of Scripture: hatred of truth is not new, persecution of believers is promised, and the truth of Christ can never be silenced. The call for the church is not fear or retaliation, but to grieve honestly, honor courage, stand firm in faith, fight spiritually in prayer, and above all, look to Christ as the head of the church. Though culture rages and evil schemes, believers rest in the victory already won through Jesus’ death and resurrection.
1. The Pattern of Hatred
From Nazareth to today, the world has always responded with wrath when confronted by the truth of Christ.
2. The Principle of Persecution
Scripture promises that all who live boldly for Christ will face opposition and hostility.
3. The Power of Truth
Though voices can be silenced, the Word of God and the gospel cannot be killed; truth always prevails.
4. The Posture of the Church
Believers must grieve, honor, stand, fight spiritually, and keep their eyes fixed on Christ, our true head.
In a world that hates truth, the church must shine brighter than ever. Our hope is not in politics or people, but in Christ alone—our risen Lord who has already secured the victory.
