Holiness, Part 2: The Holiness We Have Beheld
A Selection of Scripture | Pastor Winston Parrish
Holiness is not a distant concept confined to heaven but a divine reality revealed in the person of Jesus Christ. The eternal Word became flesh, bringing the perfection of God’s character into human form—holy in His relation to the Father, harmless toward man, undefiled within Himself, separate from sinners, and exalted above the heavens. In Christ, holiness walks among humanity, untouched by sin yet moved with compassion. He is approachable but not adjustable, full of grace and truth, and the embodiment of all that is pure, righteous, and divine.
At the cross, holiness reached its fullest expression. The sinless Son became the perfect sacrifice, satisfying justice and extending mercy. What the law could only cover, Christ cleansed completely through His own blood. In that moment, holiness was not compromised but accomplished—God’s justice fulfilled, His grace unveiled, and His presence made accessible. Through Jesus, sinners are invited near, redeemed, and transformed to reflect His holiness in worship, obedience, and love.
I. Holiness Revealed in His Person
Jesus Christ perfectly displays divine holiness—flawless in purity, innocent in conduct, untouched by sin, and exalted above all creation. In Him, the holiness of heaven is made visible and personal.
- In relation to God the Father — “holy”
- In relation to man — “harmless”
- In relation to Himself — “undefiled”
- In relation to the world — “separate from sinners”
- In relation to eternity — “higher than the heavens”
II. Holiness Radiated in His Priesthood
As the sinless High Priest, Christ offered Himself once for all, satisfying the justice of God and opening the way for sinners to be made righteous. At the cross, holiness and mercy met, and redemption became complete.
