Ralph Sexton
Today we honor the Mothers of our church. The common truth is that each of us has a mother. Some lady loved you enough to be your mother. Your mother walked into the valley of the shadow of death for you. She placed her health and well-being at risk so you could be born. Our mothers love us more than they love them-selves! For us to live, they suffered months of discomfort and the travail of childbirth.
We pause today to say, “Thank you, Mom!” Thank you for loving me before I was born! Thank you for talking to me, singing to me and praying for me before I was born! That act of love and kindness may have been 80 years ago or only 8 days ago, but it was still the miracle gift of life! Mothers, your love and example of a life well-lived never ends. Your life changes as we live and have different experiences, but a mother’s love is forever! You may have grown children, you may have grandchildren, but you love them all the same!
Sometimes life is hard, relationships can be fractured or broken, but Mom, just keep being faithful! There is nothing more powerful than a mother’s prayer. The heart of a family can be a mother or grandmother. You are the glue for our lives. We love you and we honor you today!
You are loved,
Pastor Ralph
